Laser Scanning & 3D Modelling

Fast, precise and above all safe, 3D laser scanning helps enhance your decision making whilst offering impressive cost savings across a range of projects.

What they said

Infrastruct provided invaluable support to our HS2 programme, delivering project management alongside utilities and GPR mapping, bridge condition assessments, and 3D laser scanning with BIM modelling of railway structures.

Their expertise, reliability, and collaborative approach were instrumental in ensuring the success of these works.

FAQs

What is laser scanning and 3D modelling?

Laser scanning is the process of capturing the physical environment as a dense cloud of points. 3D modelling converts those points into usable digital geometry, such as meshes or BIM models, which reflect the real world in virtual form.

How accurate are your scans?

Accuracy depends on scanner specification, control setup and environmental conditions. We use high precision instruments and registration methods to ensure the resulting models meet project tolerances. We’ll discuss the exact requirements of your project before quoting in order to decide upon the accuracy level needed.

Do your services comply with standards?

Yes. All scanning and 3D modelling is carried out to the relevant industry or even project-specific standards, including but not limited to RICS and/or Network Rail. This ensures your data is credible and usable across your project stakeholders.

Can you scan both internal and external spaces?

Yes. We scan interior and exterior locations, even complex or constrained spaces, using static, mobile or handheld scanners depending on access and geometry.

Can the scanned data tie into my existing design model?

Yes. We can align scanned results with your existing CAD, BIM or GIS models for seamless integration, overlay, verification or clash detection.

What formats will I receive the outputs in?

We provide deliverables in formats that suit your workflow, such as LAS, E57, OBJ, STL, DWG, Revit or BIM exports and annotated drawings or visualisations.

How long does a scanning survey take?

The time depends on the size, complexity and accessibility of the site. We provide a clear schedule when preparing the quote and keep you informed throughout.
